Mojang Portfolio

Dear Mojang,

If you are reading this, then I thank you very much for considering my application! Here you can find my portfolio. This includes my blog regarding my in-depth and critical thoughts on Minecraft and its developmentthe Candy Crush Saga Wikia which I founded in 2012 and ran as chief admin for many years, and my coding projects.

Since late 2020, I have been deeply analysing Minecraft from a critical standpoint, reviewing systems which I feel are outdated or aspects that I think are in need of an update, as well as aspects of the game I really enjoy. I talk about my experience as a player, both playing the game and reviewing new updates. The Candy Crush Saga Wikia blew up in viewership exponentially in 2013, and is now home to nearly 16,000 articles and hundreds of monthly active users. I lead this community to this day. Running this page enforced leadership skills and some HTML experience.

The coding projects include the Tanks game I have been developing for almost a year now, and an example of my coding of Python in the professional environment in conjunction with supercomputing facilities to simulate the relaxation of hydrogen atoms on a titanium dioxide surface. I have included this game to show you what I am capable of as a game designer, and the atomic simulation to show some of my professional Python experience in the computational half of my PhD. See the embedded shared folder below to access both of these coding projects.

With regards to the tanks game, the objective is to navigate your blue tank throughout the maps and clear all the enemy tanks. Left-click to shoot, right-click to lay a mine. You can move using W, A, S, D or the arrow keys, and use the mouse cursor to aim.

Note: A Windows computer or laptop is required to run the game.

To download and play the game:

  1. Click the link below and download the .zip file inside of it.
  2. Ignore any virus warnings, this package is safe.
  3. Extract the .zip file
  4. Go into the extracted file and open "MicroTanks(.exe)"

Enjoy! :)

Thank you,
James Crawley
