Let's Talk About the Moobloom - the Mob Doomed to Fail?

While the community was locked in an eternal battle of Dream Stans vs Non-Dream Stans, there was one piggy in the middle that everyone forgot. Like two parents screaming at each other, completely ignoring the fact their child is in the room, watching, on the verge of tears that totally wasn't a daily occurrence for me as a kid. The one that everyone forgot. The team nobody rooted for. The third wheel. The add-on. The also-ran.

A contender to the nuclear dumpster fire that was the 2020 (I could stop that sentence here tbh) mob vote so forgotten and neglected that people literally named it the Piss Cow. Oh yeah, the Piss Cow exists too.

Why was the Piss Cow so forgotten about? Was the Piss Cow actually doomed to fail?

How Did The Piss Cow Actually Perform In the Infamous Vote?
Actually, not as badly as you might think. It might be tempting to believe it only scored 10% of the votes. And yes, it was the mob that was knocked out in round 1. But actually, the votes for round 1 were as follows:

Moobloom - 28.3%
Iceologer - 34.8%
Glow Squid - 36.9%

Round 1 of the vote was actually surprisingly close. Moobloom did definitely gain a fair share of the votes, and this result makes the Moobloom seem less of the mob doomed to fail, and more of the weakest link only because the other two were a bit better and something's got to come last and be knocked out in round 1.

Let's compare this to the 2019 biome vote results for round 1. The Mountains scored 46% of the votes, and the Swamps 40%. The Badlands, however, scored only 14%. In this vote, the Badlands was the biome clearly doomed to fail. Compared to the other two, the Badlands was the OBVIOUS weak contender.

On the flipside, the results of round 1 of the 2018 vote seem to suggest there was only ONE clear winner, and the other two were both fairly weak. The Taiga won both rounds by a LANDSLIDE.

In the case of the 2020 vote, however, it appears actually all three were much more evenly matched. It's just the Iceologer and Glow Squid had slightly more followers than the Moobloom.

Why Was the Moobloom Weaker Than the Others?
Why do some people like oranges and some people like apples? The Moobloom probably just had the least appeal to the fandom. The side of the fandom that loves adventuring and fighting new enemies would have all voted the Iceologer. But the Glow Squid definitely did have that "cool" appeal to it that the Moobloom simply lacked. Of course the Moobloom also lacked any major content creator spamming and manipulating people to vote for it. But simply put, many people just did not want another cow in the game.

It has been numerously pointed out that there are already two cows in the game. A third reskin of a cow just would not be as exciting. Glow Squids are inherently more otherworldly than a new cow. Even if that cow is the colour of piss. And seeing as there was a lack of deep-sea or dark-water mobs in the game, Glow Squids absolutely did help fill that niche. Iceologers would've also brought more fun and challenge to the Mountains. The Flower Forest already has plenty of plant life, it really does not need its own unique mob. Especially if that mob is apparently as uninspired as a cow that's been turned yellow using the MS-Paint fill tool.

One of the biggest problems with the 2020 mob vote (and all votes, really) was the lack of information about any of these mobs. But looking at it, it appears the Moobloom may have suffered the worst from this. We knew the Iceologer would have come with a structure far up in the mountains and shot ice clouds at us. We knew the Glow Squid would be a reskinned squid that would spawn in dark water and... not glow... and that was about all it would do. But we knew almost NOTHING of the Moobloom other than it would spawn in flower forests and very vaguely have "some mechanic with bees". It is possible that if Mojang had given us slightly more information about the Moobloom, more people would have paid attention to it.

Why Has the Moobloom Become Forgotten?
Even though it gained a surprisingly decent share of the votes, it has become largely forgotten now. Simply because there was no big drama surrounding the Moobloom. The big 2020 mob vote drama was surrounding the other two contenders, and the Moobloom was simply not involved. Like a child that absolutely should not be dragged into bickering parents' fights, the Moobloom was left out. It's not because the Moobloom was bad, it's simply because the other two have stuck in peoples' minds due to the big drama that occurred.

Finally, I don't think many people would be really all that fussed if the Moobloom was never added. The Moobloom would have been a nice addition, sure, but it is far from necessary. It probably wouldn't add that much to the overall experience of Minecraft if it were to be added. You'd probably think "Oh cool, the yellow cow", and move on.
