Every New ITEM In Caves & Cliffs (so far) Rated Out of 10!

See my ranking of all the Caves & Cliffs BLOCKS so far: https://minecraftrants2.blogspot.com/2021/04/every-new-block-in-caves-cliffs-so-far.html

Now, I am going to rank the new ITEMS out of 10. Bear in mind, this is as of 21w17a. The update is not finished yet, and the textures of some of these sprites are still being changed every week.

Bucket of Axolotl - The axolotl poking its head out of the bucket is so cute! I always feel a bit bad after scooping up a virtual, pixelated and unrealistic axolotl in a bucket though. 7.5/10.

Amethyst Shard - It doesn't have a whole lot of uses yet, being used only to craft the block of amethyst, the incredibly useless tinted glass and the spyglass. It really needs more uses, but it definitely has potential. It's a cool item nonetheless, and looks good. 6/10.

Glow Ink Sac - The drop from the infamous Glow Squid. It has a couple of very niche uses, none of which I will ever really use. If I have a sign or an item frame, it's probably going to be in a house and lit up. The very limited "backlit" properties don't really justify this item's existence (and the Glow Squid to be honest). There are lots of things they could do with this, and I've given lots of suggestions, but currently they are just pointless unless you're a mapmaker. I like the way the sprite looks, though. 4/10.

Raw Copper - This sprite may not be final, as it's already gone through several changes seemingly every week. Although the current sprite is better than the first, I still can't say I'm too fond of the way the raw copper looks. It certainly looks better than it did when it was first added, when it looked like a mouldy carrot. But I still wish for more transition between the orange and green regions. As a concept though, the raw ores is definitely a really great solution to several problems - including metal ores not being fortune-able, and the fact stone and deepslate ores don't stack. For this, all raw metal blocks will get at least a 6. But I've never been a fan of the raw copper textures, so this will get a 6/10.

Raw Iron - Again, a great solution to the metal ore problem. I prefer the texture of raw iron to raw copper, as it is more of a "stone" or "rock"-type texture, making it seem more natural and more like something you would actually mine. 8/10.

Raw Gold - My favourite of the three raw ore items. It truly looks like a gold nugget - more so than the actual gold nugget. 8.5/10.

Copper Ingot - I've always loved the texture of this item. The shininess, the colour... it definitely feels a lot more modern than the traditional metal ingots of Minecraft, but that's a good thing. Unfortunately, like Amethyst, copper doesn't have a whole lot of uses. Yet. I believe they are going to give copper more and more uses overtime. 8/10.

Glow Berries - An interesting-looking organic light source that is also a food. As a food, it really doesn't give you much in the way of hunger or saturation, but it's interesting to see a cave-grown food source that is actually a light source. 7/10.

Powdered Snow Bucket - I really don't have any opinions one way or the other. 5/10.

Bundle - Ah, okay, this is one to talk about. I must say, the idea here is definitely on point. But the trouble is, its execution isn't that amazing. You can't choose what to unpack from the bundle, and non-stackable items can't be put in it (unless it's the only thing that you put in the bundle). Also, only 64 items can be put in the bundle, which I feel isn't enough. As far as inventory management goes, bundles can work as an early-game shulker box, but it has a number of pitfalls which prevent it from being as practical as it could've been. 6.5/10.

Goat Horn - It.... makes the raid sound. That's it. It has no other functionality. As this item may or may not be complete, and it's not even on Java yet, I can't really rate this item. I can't tell if it's complete or not. Exempt/10. In its current state, 3/10.

Spyglass - FINALLY!!!!!! For YEARS I've wanted a way to zoom in Vanilla Minecraft!!!! This item is actually really useful - especially in caves, or on high grounds. In caves, the spyglass can help you see far-away mobs, ledges, regions, entrances, and most importantly, ores. The same can be said if you want to use it in the Nether. It's especially useful if your render distance is turned up as well. What's even better is it has unlimited uses, and makes use of the new minerals, copper and amethyst. Also, this is a great item if you want to pretend you're a pirate. 9/10.
